Available Rebates

Rebate offerings and amounts change frequently. Check the current rebate listings in the table below before buying a new appliance to make sure it is eligible and that the rebate is still available. Applicant is responsible for complying with all eligibility requirements listed in Step One of the Rebate Application Instructions below.

Heat Pump Space Heater Rebates

Rebate amounts shown on this page are awarded for each ton of cooling capacity as listed for your model on the AHRI Directory of Certified Product Performance. Please note that the exact tonnage from AHRI will be used and rounded to two decimal places. Every 12,000 Btu/hr of cooling capacity equals 1 ton.

Example:
The tons for a 34,500 Btu/hr system would be calculated as:
34,500 Btu/hr ÷12,000 Btu/hr = 2.875 tons and rounded to 2.88 tons.

The rebate for a 2.88-ton system would be calculated as:
2.88 x $388 = $1,117.44 (based on rebate HP001-NG).

Step One

Confirm Eligibility

The rebates on this page are available to customers with an electric account through RCEA, Sonoma Clean Power, and/or PG&E residing in Humboldt, Lake, and Mendocino counties. Applicants must meet and agree to the NREN Rebate Terms and Conditions.

Equipment must meet all requirements listed in the table above. Your application must be received within 90 days of the equipment installation date. All heat pump installations must have closed installation permits to be eligible for rebates. Applications require submission of the Permit Number, Permit Open Date, and Permit Closure Date. To apply for rebates that list the Replaced Unit Fuel Type of “Natural Gas”, you must have an active natural gas account with Pacific Gas & Electric Company and be replacing existing natural gas equipment.

Installations in new construction or home additions that add >30% square footage to the home are NOT eligible for rebates. Installations in buildings with commercial electric accounts are NOT eligible for rebates.

Existing equipment must be replaced and disposed of when listed as a requirement. Used or rebuilt/refurbished equipment is NOT eligible for rebates. Equipment must be fully installed and operational before you apply for rebates.

Step Two

Submit a Complete Application Package

Applications must be submitted within 90 days of when your equipment is installed and working properly. To complete an application, you will need your Electric Service Agreement ID from your PG&E bill, information from your invoice or receipt, information from your closed building permit, and the serial number on your equipment. Applications are submitted online using the Heat Pump Rebate Application. Expand the section below for complete application instructions.

Completing an Application Package

An application package must be completed after new equipment is installed and fully operational. RCEA defines the installation date as the permit closure date. A complete application package includes the following:

  1. A complete Heat Pump Rebate Application, submitted online.
    • You will need to enter your building permit number, permit open date, and permit closed date on your application.
    • If you need assistance with your application, please email RCEA at rebates@redwoodenergy.org or call (707) 269-1700.
  2. A photo or scanned image of your receipt/invoice showing the following information about the installed equipment:
    • Manufacturer
    • Model number
    • Number of units
    • Installation date
    • Vendor or contractor
    • Total installation cost
      • If your receipt/invoice does not include all the information listed above, further documentation is required. Please email RCEA at rebates@redwoodenergy.org or call (707) 269-1700.
  3. ONLY if you are replacing natural gas equipment, the following is also required as part of a complete application package:
    • Information about your home:
      • Year home was built
      • Approximate square footage of home
    • Gas Service Agreement ID (from your PG&E bill)

Submitting an Application Package

To receive a rebate, a complete application package must be submitted to RCEA within 90 days of equipment installation. RCEA defines the installation date as the permit closure date.

Applications and documentation uploads may be completed online using the Heat Pump Rebate Application (see button below).

Step Three

Receive Your Rebate

After submitting your application package, you will:

  • receive email confirmation within three (3) business days of submission that your application package was received.
  • be notified of any missing information or documentation required to complete your application package.
