Bioenergy Market Adjusting Tariff (BioMAT) Program

Description

RCEA is currently accepting applications to our Bioenergy Market Adjusting Tariff for Renewable Portfolio Standard-eligible biomass or biogas generation projects. RCEA is especially interested in bioenergy projects located within our service area of Humboldt County, in furtherance of our strategic local procurement goals.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Projects must have a nameplate capacity of 5 MW or less, and a maximum contract capacity of 3 MW.
  • The commercial operation date for the facility must be on or after June 1, 2013.
  • Projects must be located within PG&E’s service territory, and must interconnect to the transmission or distribution system.
  • Projects must have received their initial interconnection study results.

Technology Categories

  • Category 1: Biogas from wastewater treatment, municipal organic waste diversion, food processing, and co-digestion.
  • Category 2: Dairy and other agricultural bioenergy.
  • Category 3: Bioenergy using byproducts of sustainable forest management, including fuels from high hazard zones.
