We’re thrilled to celebrate the City of Arcata’s recent enrollment in REpower+, Redwood Coast Energy Authority’s 100% renewable electricity service!
All ~60 of the City’s electric meters—including those for City Hall, the Arcata Community Center, the library, parks facilities, and critical water infrastructure—are now powered by clean, renewable electricity. While most accounts have been enrolled in REpower+ since the program began, there were a few remaining accounts to be enrolled. The upgrade to REpower+ also came with bill savings as RCEA helped the City optimize its PG&E rates to best suit each meter’s specific needs.
The City’s upgrade to 100% renewable electricity is a big step toward completing their Climate Action Plan, which outlines goals like the decarbonization of existing structures. Arcata is also planning to install solar panels at the Arcata Community Center and upgrade lighting to more efficient systems as part of ongoing sustainability efforts.
This transition reflects a deep commitment to building a livable, resilient community powered by clean energy. We’re proud to partner with Arcata, and we extend our thanks to the many people who made this possible, especially Emily Benvie (Environmental Services Deputy Director), Morguine Sefcik (Environmental Programs Manager), and the Arcata Energy Committee.
