Local Investment, Local Control

As an RCEA customer, you help support the development of renewable energy projects, energy efficiency programs, and a more resilient energy future for Humboldt County.

RCEA administers Humboldt County’s Community Choice Energy program. It is designed by your city councils and county supervisors to keep profits and control right here in the County. To learn more, visit our Governance page.

We provide your electricity and use our profits to buy greener, more locally produced energy and feed it into the grid.

We work in partnership with PG&E, which continues to deliver electricity, maintain the lines, and handle billing.

Billing is ConfusingWe’re Here to Help

Questions about your PG&E bill? Feel free to contact us. We’re happy to help!

For a line-by-line breakdown of a sample PG&E bill, visit our Understanding Your PG&E Bill pages.

RCEA is Not a Duplicate Charge

RCEA represents the generation charge on your bill while PG&E charges for delivery.

It may appear that PG&E is also charging you for electricity generation, but this charge is removed from your bill in the form of a credit.

Beware of Scams!

RCEA does not collect payment and does not provide gas services.

If you receive communication requesting payment from someone claiming to represent RCEA, it may be a scam. Do not provide any personal information and contact us as soon as possible.

Billing is handled by PG&E. You can pay your electric bill on PG&E’s website.
