RCEA is partnering with GRID Alternatives to offer discounted public electric vehicle (EV) charging for income-qualified customers. Through this limited-time pilot program, eligible customers can receive 40% off charging at RCEA-owned REVNet charging stations across Humboldt County.
This pilot is designed to make public EV charging more affordable and accessible for households already receiving CARE, FERA, or other public assistance program benefits.
Who is eligible?
You may qualify if you:
- Have an active residential RCEA electric account in good standing
- Are enrolled in CARE, FERA, or another qualifying public assistance program
- Own an electric vehicle registered at your RCEA service address, or that is registered in the RCEA account holder’s name

How the Discount Works
- Approved participants receive a 40% discount on charging at RCEA REVNet stations
- The discount lasts for up to six months or until pilot funding runs out
- Charging is accessed using the ChargePoint app or a free ChargePoint RFID card
- Only one discount is available per household.

How to Apply
- Fill out an application form in English or Spanish
- Submit your complete application package to RCEA, including a copy of your EV’s permanent or temporary DMV registration:

Participation is limited and not guaranteed. Discounts are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Where Can I Charge Using the Discount?
The 40% discount can be used at all RCEA’s Public EV Charging Network, known as REVNet RCEA’s network is made up of 66 level 2 ports across Humboldt County. View the REVNet map to find a charger near you. All REVNet stations are on a fixed Time-of-Use pricing model.
How to Use Your Discount
Using your discount is easy! Once you’ve been approved, you can access your discount by:
- Using the ChargePoint app, available on IOS and Android, or
- Using a ChargePoint RFID card at a REVNet station. Every ChargePoint account holder is eligible to order a free RFID card attached to their account.

RCEA & GRID’s Pilot discount can only be used at RCEA-owned and operated REVNet Level 2 chargers. To see where RCEA’s REVNet chargers are located, visit redwoodenergy.org/about/community-impact/revnet/. All RCEA chargers are branded with RCEA’s logo and marked physically as owned and operated by RCEA.
The discount is good for 6 months or for as long as funding is available.
Is this discount available to commercial customers with EV’s compatible with RCEA’s REVNet chargers?
No. This pilot is for RCEA’s residential customer sector only.
Yes. RCEA account holders can assign this discount to a member of their household by having the member they wish to assign the discount to, fill out the “Discount Assignment” portion of the application. However, discounts are limited to one per RCEA account.
No. RCEA’s discount is geared towards lowering the cost of public EV charging in Humboldt County for its income-qualified customers by providing a discount at RCEA’s owned and operated public EV chargers.
