A whole-house project includes several major efficiency upgrades within the same projects and addresses the home as an interactive system rather than individual components. The whole-house approach is founded on building science and applies the best practices of the Home Performance industry.
A whole-house project will achieve superior results that can’t be attained through one off upgrades. Whole-house projects will reduce your home’s annual energy usage by at least 10%. Using the whole-house approach results in a safer home that is more comfortable and more efficient.
Home Upgrade rebates are available for upgrades such as insulation, building air sealing, furnace upgrades, furnace duct sealing, water heater upgrades, windows, and more. All work must be performed through a participating Home Upgrade contractor. Please call RCEA for additional details.
You will need to have a Home Performance Assessment completed prior to doing any work. Please call RCEA to verify your eligibility and to receive a quote for your Home Performance Assessment. The Service Agreement (see link below) outlines the terms and conditions of service.
The initial home upgrade assessment will consist of a visual inspection of energy related features and other services included on your service estimate. It will result in a printed report showing the potential rebate estimates for performing specific efficiency upgrades.
Your home must be a single-family home or a 2-4 unit home. Mobile homes and 5+ unit homes are ineligible. You must be a PG&E customer. Homes that use fuels other than natural gas or electricity for space heating are not eligible unless your home has air conditioning. Please call for more details.
Project costs in Humboldt County over the last few years have ranged from $7,000 to $20,000 and rebates have historically covered 10-30%. Project quotes are only available from participating Home Upgrade contractors. You will need to have a Home Performance Assessment performed to determine the estimated rebate for your project. Rebates are calculated based on the estimated annual energy savings the project will achieve.
RCEA offers Home Performance Assessments to current RCEA customers who own a home that meets Home Upgrade program eligibility.
