The Redwood Coast Energy Authority is hosting training for Humboldt County first responders to effectively respond to fires at homes and businesses that have solar panels and battery storage installed.

Captain Richard Birt shares a bread-and-butter S.A.F.E. approach to mitigating residential, commercial and agency structure fires involving solar panel and energy storage systems.
Basic firefighter strategies and tactics needed to mitigate a structure fire have changed with the installation of thousands of solar panels and energy storage systems. As such, firefighters need updated training that addresses the presence of this technology.
For all fire agencies and Tribal fire agencies within Humboldt County. COVID protocols will be followed according to County guidelines.
