Important Message About Your NEM Bill
Posted 5/26/2017
The Net Energy Metering (NEM) program is a special billing program for customers with private rooftop solar and renewable energy systems. The PG&E processing error detailed below only affects NEM customers in Humboldt County.
Due to a processing error PG&E prematurely enrolled many NEM customers into our Community Choice Energy Program triggering a true-up. Affected customers will be receiving the following letter in the mail from PG&E. NEM customers who do not receive this letter from PG&E should pay their May bill as usual.
Dear Affected NEM Customer,
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is contacting you to inform you of a processing error that may have affected your account and the steps we are taking to correct your account. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused and we are doing everything possible to minimize the impact on your account.
What happened
Due to a processing error, your account was accidentally included in the May enrollment phase for Redwood Coast Energy Authority, rather than after your scheduled PG&E annual true-up. This triggered an early true-up of your PG&E Net Energy Metering (NEM) account.
No action is needed from you
Please completely disregard your bill received with a May date.
What we are doing to correct your account
PG&E is already working to reverse the early true-up charges/credits that may have appeared on your account. You can expect to see the true-up reversal on your next PG&E bill in June. If you already paid your May bill including the accidental true-up, your account will be credited that amount.
Additionally, Redwood Coast Energy Authority will postpone offering service to you until a later date as originally scheduled
Your contact if you have any questions
If you are having any difficulty understanding the early true-up and reversal, please call us at our dedicated Solar Customer Service Center at 1-877-743-4112, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sincerely,
Dave Gutierrez
