Demand Reduction Incentive Program Pilot
Make your business part of the solution!
Balancing electricity usage is crucial for maintaining a reliable grid. This is an ever-present concern for the California electricity grid operators.
RCEA is offering the Demand Reduction Incentive program (DRIP) to reward customers for reducing their energy usage during the peak electricity hours of the summer. Eligible commercial, industrial and agricultural customers can earn $0.25/kWh in bill credits for reducing their electricity consumption below their average baseline usage when RCEA calls a DRIP event day.
Each event is an opportunity for participants to reduce their electricity usage as compared to their average usage and earn a credit on their energy bill.
RCEA will send out an alert a day before an event is called. Participants can use that time to plan how they will reduce energy usage.
When a DRIP event is called, customers who have reduced electricity usage will receive credits on the RCEA page of their energy statement.
- DRIP season is July 1 to September 30
- 9-15 DRIP events
- Reduce energy usage from 5 pm – 8 pm
- Earn a $0.25/kWh credit
