Vending Machine Controllers

An average refrigerated vending machine uses about 3,500 kWh per year. VendingMiserTM controllers can cut that in half!

Vending MiserRedwood Coast Energy Watch (RCEW) is offering free vending machine controllers for beverage or snack machines. These devices use a controller and an occupancy sensor to power down the machine when the surrounding area is vacant. The vending machine power cord plugs directly into the controller, so no physical changes are needed for the vending machine, and product remains unaffected.

Several controllers are available depending on the type of vending machine:

  • VendingMiser®: Compatible with all types of coin-operated cold drink vending machines, except those containing perishable goods. Uses a motion sensor to automatically power down the machine when the surrounding area is vaant and re-power the machine when a customer approaches. Ensures that the product stays cold by monitoring the temperature and automatically re-powering the cooling system at one to three hour intervals, independent of sales.
  • SnackMiser™: Compatible with all types of coin-operated snack vending machines, except those containing perishable goods. Uses a motion sensor to automatically power down the machine when the surrounding area is vacant and re-power the machine when a customer approaches.
  • CoolerMiser™: (available soon) Compatible with all types of reach-in cold drink coolers, except those containing perishable goods. Uses a motion sensor to automatically power down the machine when the surrounding area is vacant and re-power the machine when a customer approaches. Ensures that the product stays cold by monitoring the temperature and automatically re-powering the cooling system at one to three hour intervals, independent of sales.

Energy Tip:

Consider using a power strip to cut power to home office equipment when you are not using it as "phantom" energy is used even when your appliances are turned off but remain plugged in.
