PACE Financing Expo

In association with Plan It Green Humboldt (a Northcoast Environmental Education Non-profit), RCEA is pleased to jointly present the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Financing Expo.  The PACE Expo will feature PACE financing providers and local PACE enrolled contractors who will explain the program in detail and answer any technical questions. Statewide Ride-and-Drive Series brought to you by the Plug-in Electric Vehicle Collaborative. Food and children's activities will be provided. We will have a hydrogen vehicle providing a shuttle service from the entrance to the City of Arcata to our event at the Community Center parking lot.

Bigfoot Days

Humboldt's hairy hominid returns for a festive homecoming to the town where his legend began in the town where the famous Bigfoot footage was filmed in 1967. This event includes a parade, live music, food & craft booths, oyster feed, deep pit BBQ, logging contests, a petting zoo, kids bike race, lawn mower race, disc golf tourney and big ice cream social with homemade pies, cakes and cobblers at the town museum, which houses the world’s largest collection of Bigfoot curios. For more event information, click here.

(NCIDC) has sponsored the Northwest Intertribal Gathering and Elders Dinner and we want to invite you to be a part of this important regional community wide event. Apple Harvest Festival

Join Redwood Coast Energy Authority at the 29th Annual Apple Harvest Festival in Fortuna. The event hosts hay rides, a health fair, live music, good food and lots of fun for all ages. The fun begins on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.


North Country Fair

The North Country Fair is an annual two-day festival held on the Arcata Plaza in Arcata, CA the third full weekend in September. Presented by the Same Old People since 1974, this fall they are celebrating their 41st year! Join the Redwood Coast Energy Authority in helping them celebrate and take part in this fun community tradition.


Bigfoot Days

Willow Creek

It's an X-files-ish affair that includes Bigfoot encounters, lawn mower races and the son of a notorious Watergate plumber when the festival featuring the hairy hominid returns home to Humboldt County. Redwood Coast Energy Authority will be there as well, come by and say hi and learn about the many exciting programs going on at RCEA and how we can help you save energy.

Come see us at Wildwood Days! The Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department coordinates the events in this five day festival. Fire Chief Shane Wilson and his committee provide a variety of activities to engage all attendees to the Wildwood Days Event. This event provides much needed funding for the Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department to keep the community safe.

7th Annual All Electric Vehicle Show
8am to 12 pm
The Bayside Grange in Bayside

Members of HEVA will be parking their electric cars, trucks, scooters, bicycles, and tractors in front of the Bayside Grange for your perusal. Local owners, enthusiasts and Redwood Coast Energy Authority will be on hand to discuss electric vehicles, and share their knowledge. Come learn about being "gasoline-free," and reducing the largest portion of your carbon footprint.

Earth Day Celebration at Sequoia Park Zoo

12pm to 4pm
The Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka
Visit with rare and endangered Red pandas, interact with sheep and goats in the Contact Corral, and connect with the gibbons and spider monkeys. Stroll amongst the flamingos to mingle with the birds in the walk-through aviary. There will be fun conservation activities and live music by Asha Nan! If the weather is bad, head inside to explore the Secrets of the Forest and learn who lives in the redwood ecosystem.


HVAC Fundamentals-New Ideas for Novices

This FREE workshop is great for building owners, architects, facilities personnel, energy consultants, and other building professionals interested in an overview of mechanical systems. Instructor Ryan Stroupe of the Pacific Energy Center will introduce mechanical system concepts, low energy strategies, control systems, code compliance, along with information on optimal operation and building commissioning. Free continental breakfast and lunch will be served.

Join the Redwood Coast Energy Authority for a FREE workshop to learn how a house works as a system and why it's important to understand the relationships between common residential design details. Heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, thermal envelope, air barrier, moisture barrier, appliances all work together to make the home more comfortable, improve indoor air quality and use energy efficiently. When done individually, they may help, hinder or possibly compromise health or home environment. Instructor Andy Wahl has more than 30 years of experience in the Building Science field and has completed more than 7,500 energy analyses. His certifications include RCS Auditor, HERS (Home Energy Rating System) Rater, BPI (Building Performance Institute) Proctor and Super Proctor, and he is the proud owner of a retrofitted Zero Net Energy Home. Local dealerships will be providing electric vehicles to test drive and will be available to answer any questions you have about the cars (vehicle availability based on dealership inventory). After your test drive come talk with our friendly staff and see what other energy programs are available for your home or business.

Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst Professional Training
January 7-18, 2014

Redwood Coast Energy Authority will be hosting an upcoming training course for contractors to become certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) as a Building Analyst Professional. BPI is a national standards development organization for residential energy efficiency and weatherization retrofit work. This course will include approximately 32 hours of combined classroom and field training. After successful completion of this course, the participant will be certified by BPI to perform comprehensive whole-home energy assessments, employ advanced diagnostic testing techniques, evaluate building systems performance, diagnose problems, and provide cost-effective solutions that increase energy efficiency and improve the health and safety qualities of the home. Cost for the course is $1695.00 per person, with potential discounts available. Course fee includes all training and testing materials. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required; deadline for registration is January 1, 2014. The course begins January 7, 2014.
